This adapter is appropriate for late model Civics. I used them for my rear 6.5″ speakers. The rear deck does not have to be removed; only the speaker grills need to be removed. The grills are a tight fit with the new speakers, but they do fit and there is no need to dremel the plastic moldings on the speaker grills. The adapters do not come with hardware to secure the speakers to them before installation.
Before installation, however, the adapters’ main screw holes for Honda’s OEM bolt must be countersunk in order for the bolt to be dropped in and screwed until it rests below the speaker. Unfortunately, the 6.5″ speakers protrude partially over the holes, so there is no way around this. The countersink gives you some slack to wiggle in the screw; make sure you have a short phillips head driver and do it by hand.
Also, only countersink the hole to the point where Honda’s bolt rests right below the adapter. Otherwise, the plastic on the other side of the adapter will start to buckle from too much digging.
